The Adaptive Design Association works to ensure that children with disabilities get the customized equipment they need to participate fully in home, school, and community life.
ADA offers classes in the basics of cardboard carpentry, construction and adaptive design to occupational and physical therapists, teachers, parents, interns and individuals interested in learning the craft.
The Adaptive Design Association also makes and sells everyday products to use in your home or office that make great gifts for friends or yourself.
ADA depends on generous contributions. Every donation helps ensure that children get the adaptations they need to participate fully at home, at school, and in the wider community.

Adaptive Design is extremely grateful for the tireless energy, wonderful creative talents, and generosity expended by Group #74 of Friends in Action over the past few days. You outdid yourselves, and we hope you are all getting some sleep now!
Kit Frank, an occupational therapist volunteering in Ecuador with her husband, contacted us a few weeks ago looking for the best way to get their hands on Triwall® corrugated cardboard. We let them know that in a place like Ibarra, Ecuador, it may be better to make it than buy it.
Adaptive Equipment at ADA
Standing enhances weight-bearing, balance, bone development, and eases digestive functions. Customized standers can have a built-in table-for-two to encourage interactive play.
Is designed to fit most standard restaurant or dining room chairs so children can participate in meals at eye-level with family and friends. Seat angles, seat depth, back height, armrest width, foot supports, etc. must be custom-designed.
Custom-fit steps enable little people to access out-of-reach facilities such as water fountains, sinks, and toilets.
